Educational problems in the modern world

It is actual fact, that humanist professions are very popular today. Since school a lot of young people consider this work to be very absorbing. With such an point of view they are brought up in their families, go to school, to a institute and at last they begin educating their own children that way. Deadlock.
Why is it so? What do make people think that manual operations have lost their significance?
There are several reasons.
first present engineering achieved such a high degree of progress that the majority of people is capable of running it without having special engineering knowledge. So there is no point for subsequent dissemination of technological knowledge. Humanits use begins prevailing in all aspects of life.
Secondly it is an actual fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They prefer to describe the world around and consume products, but not to make something by themselves. Of course this fact does not affect positively on spreading of technological knowledge. People are simply not interested in it.
Thirdly the resource base has reached such a degree of desolation that we frequently have no place for work after learning the theory.
Finally a very important thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it suppose as called-for today? We can easily learn it by watching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what images do they popularize now? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media show us easy life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a after all?
Lack of skilled workers in the technological sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a jointer planer. This will lead to a dangerous situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally ruined. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced lecturers able to educate worthy personnel working in technical spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our country do in order to improve the condition? It seems to me that there are several actions to be taken. firstly our education system should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs future. education system should do its best in order to popularize engineering professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to preserve technological specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
